The Beck Institute for Cognitive
Therapy: This is where it
all started. Aaron Beck invented CBT at the University of
Pennsylvania in 1960. The Beck
Institute is still located off the campus of Penn in
Philadelphia where Dr. Beck, his daughter Judy, Leslie Sokol
and Norman Cottrell headline the world’s most knowledgeable
CBT faculty/trainers. My training under Dr. Sokol, their
personality disorder expert, is largely responsible for my
understanding of cognitive therapy. This site also provides a
comprehensive reading list. |

The Academy of Cognitive Therapy:
This is the official website of
the academy of cognitive therapy, which is the certifying body
of trained cognitive therapists. While many therapists claim
to practice CBT, few have the training equivalent of being
board certified. In addition to being able to find certified
cognitive therapists in your part of the country, this site
offers a comprehensive resource list as well as other useful
information for consumers. |

PESI:
PESI is the organization for
which I do much of my speaking. They have been offering
continuing education seminars since the 1970’s and have many
highly qualified faculty. Aside from offering various
training opportunities nationwide, they are also top-notch
people who have the highest concern for customer satisfaction. |
 |
CMI: CMI
is another sponsoring agency of continuing education seminars
for whom I occasionally speak. |
